Your Success Is in Your Hands With Guthrie

Are you looking for your first job as a professional registered nurse?

If so, it’s time for you to pursue your residency.

Guthrie’s year long Nurse Residency Program educates and supports newly licensed registered nurses through the transition from student to professional RN. Our Newly Licensed Registered Nurse (NLRN) program will give you the skills and experience to succeed in your nursing profession by providing you the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills and debrief on challenges and successes away from the daily hustle and bustle of the floor.

Nursing at Guthrie

Our Nurse Residents gain a sense of belonging and support from each other, because no matter what school you graduate from, whether nursing is a second career, and what other experience life has given you, there is nothing like the transformation into a successful Registered Nurse.

"During the nurse residency program I was able to gain confidence in my skills and abilities as a new nurse. The amount of time for orientation, along with great preceptors, really helped take some fear out of being a RN. Knowing I was a new grad, the precepting nurses would continuously search for learning experiences to help build my skill set and confidence for when I would be 'on my own.' I am thankful that during the residency I have had the time to realize I'm never really on my own at Troy Community Hospital. There is always someone willing to answer a question or lend a hand, and for that I am grateful."

“The NLRN program allowed me as a newly licensed nurse to actively learn, apply and develop my nursing skills and knowledge in a supportive and progressively challenging environment. All throughout the NLRN program I supported by numerous engaging, enthusiastic, and intelligent preceptors, Nurse Educators, and managers in a wide range of nursing environments.
