Build a comprehensive colorectal practice with an established surgical team, da Vinci robotics, on-site cancer care, and Guthrie's regional referral network in the heart of New York's Finger Lakes region.

Guthrie Medical Group seeks a fellowship-trained, BC/BE Colorectal Surgeon to join East Corning General Surgery and Guthrie Corning Hospital in Corning, New York. This is a growth-oriented opportunity for a surgeon who wants to build a comprehensive colorectal practice with established surgical colleagues, surgical APP support, advanced robotic technology, multidisciplinary cancer care, and tertiary resources across Guthrie.

Highlights of the Position

  • This role is designed for a colorectal surgeon seeking the resources of an integrated health system with the accessibility and quality of life of a community-based practice. The position offers clinical breadth, program-growth opportunity, robotic capability, cancer-center collaboration, and a regional referral base that supports long-term practice development.
  • Practice primarily at Guthrie Corning Hospital, a modern 65-bed Level III Trauma Center with five state-of-the-art surgical suites, two procedure rooms, and a da Vinci robotic surgical platform.
  • Join East Corning General Surgery, a seven-provider clinic that includes an established colorectal surgeon, general and breast surgeons, and colorectal/general surgery APP support.
  • Build a full-spectrum practice that can include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, benign anorectal disease, pelvic floor and fecal incontinence care, endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Collaborate closely with Gastroenterology and the adjoining Corning Cancer Center's medical and radiation oncology teams, with access to surgical oncology and other specialists across Guthrie.
  • Benefit from an integrated referral network spanning Guthrie primary care, gastroenterology, cancer care, and specialty services across Guthrie's 13-county service region.
  • Help shape continued colorectal program growth in Corning, with potential opportunities to teach General Surgery residents during their Corning rotation based on surgeon interest and program needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Commitment to Guthrie's mission of improving health through clinical excellence and compassion; every patient, every time.
  • MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
  • Fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery required.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
  • Strong interest in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery, endoscopy, and multidisciplinary oncologic care.

  • Competitive base compensation and incentive opportunity commensurate with training, experience, and approved compensation guidelines.
  • Total compensation range: $485,000 to $574,555.

Guthrie Corning Hospital is a modern 65-bed hospital and regional cancer center with private patient rooms, an eight-bed intensive care unit, a 24/7 emergency department, an on-site helipad, five operating suites, two procedure rooms, and da Vinci robotic surgery. The adjoining cancer center provides medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion services, nurse navigation, and access to multidisciplinary cancer care.
