Advanced Practice Provider - Pain Mangement (Cortland & Ithaca, NY)
Highlights of the Position
- Full-time, outpatient-based position
- Primary locations: Cortland (Renzi MOB) and Ithaca City Harbor
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- No nights, weekends, or call
- Patients include chronic neck and back pain, neuropathic pain, and cancer-related pain
- No chronic opioid prescribing
- Collaborative practice with support from Dr. Schnur and the MSK Service Line team
- Autonomy in patient care with physician mentorship readily available
Candidate Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner (Family Practice or Acute Care) or Physician Assistant
- New graduates and experienced providers welcome to apply
- Must be eligible for or hold New York State licensure and national certification
- Commitment to Guthrie’s mission of improving health through clinical excellence and compassion
- Strong interest in pain management and willingness to build patient panel over time
- Training will include shadowing and progressive clinic responsibilities, with new graduates starting with a smaller patient panel and building toward an expected volume of 20-30 patients per day.

Work-Life Balance
This is a Monday–Friday, daytime schedule with no weekends, call, or inpatient responsibilities. The role supports autonomy while ensuring consistent access to physician mentorship.

Supportive Transition
The APP will receive dedicated training, shadowing, and gradually increasing patient responsibilities to ensure confidence and success in practice. Daily communication and support from Dr. Schnur and the MSK team ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
