Family Medicine Residency - Community Preceptor Position

Support the Next Generation of Family Medicine Physicians Through Community‑Based Teaching

Guthrie Lourdes Hospital invites Family Medicine physicians to serve as Community Preceptors, supporting resident and student education through flexible, community‑focused teaching while remaining rooted in high‑quality patient care.
 
Highlights of the Position
  • Community Preceptor Position in an ACGME accredited FM program with osteopathic recognition.
  • 0.1 FTE – 0.3 FTE
  • Fully integrated EPIC EMR.
  • The Community Preceptor physician provides clinical teaching and precepting to residents and students on rotation to meet standards as required by program accrediting bodies, including the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the family medicine encounters.

Candidate Requirements 

  • DO/ MD degree required.
  • Active unrestricted NYS license and current registration as well as active DEA license.
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine.
  • Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in Family Medicine.
  • Meets all teaching faculty standards as required by accredited bodies.

General Duties 

  • Document according to Medicare guidelines for teaching residents and medical students.
  • Comply with work hour restrictions in accordance with ACGME and NYS guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional manner to exemplify well-rounded academic clinicians and to serve as a role model for resident physicians and medical students.
  • Maintain all required certifications and memberships to fully comply with accrediting bodies.
  • Complete evaluations for residents and/or students and submit them electronically to the office of Graduate Medical Education in a timely manner.

Comprehensive Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is $536.00 per shift for each 0.1 FTE.
  • Malpractice insurance with tail.
  • Allowance for licensure fees, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and professional license renewals.

  • Relocation expenses paid up to $15,000 in accordance with IRS regulations
