Self-Isolation

Whether you have tested positive for COVID-19 or are waiting for the results of a test, isolating yourself at home is the most important way to protect others.

If you live with others:

  • Try to stay in only one room of the house and, if possible, use a separate bathroom.
  • Don’t share dishes, utensils, towels or bedding. Wash each thoroughly after use.
  • Clean high-touch  surfaces daily. This includes counters, tables, doorknobs and bathroom fixtures.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw used tissues into a lined trash can, then wash your hands.

You should tell anyone you’ve been in contact with that you have or may have COVID-19, so they can monitor themselves for the signs of respiratory illness.

The only time you should leave home is to seek medical care. If you are in distress and need immediate help, go to the nearest emergency room. If you are experiencing less severe symptoms, call 866-GUTHRIE (866-488-4743) for an appointment.
