Sayre, Pa. – The Troy Lions Club is making a donation of $5,000 to support the building of the new Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.
The Lions Club check was presented to Denise Ives, Vice President of Guthrie Resource Development, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in a brief ceremony before the Lions Club regular meeting. It will be used in the “Building Healthier Communities” fund raising campaign that is underway for the new facility.
Ives said, “The Lions Club International motto is ‘We Serve’ and they certainly have chosen a wonderful way to serve the community through this gift. Support such as theirs is so valuable in the building of this new medical facility, which will be of vital importance to the entire region.”
The Troy Lions Club works on fund raising projects throughout the year to be able to support the needs of the community.
The new Guthrie Troy Community Hospital will be a $30 million, 65,000 square foot medical campus replacing the existing hospital and physician office facilities. The site will offer scenic views from 25 all-private inpatient rooms, providing enhanced comfort and privacy to patients. The modern facilities will also help staff manage the unique medical needs of each patient. The new facility will allow the hospital's infrastructure to be built to today's standards and will also support Guthrie’s efforts in recruiting and retaining outstanding physicians and clinical staff.
Features of the new facility will include an expanded Emergency Department and a helipad on the campus to expedite transfers of critically ill or injured patients to the nearest trauma center. Technology will also be upgraded in the new Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, with use of electronic health records and telemedicine to improve access to specialty services and reduce travel time.
