Sayre, PA- Guthrie's Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine was recently notified by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) that it had achieved accreditation with distinction.
Accreditation with distinction means the wound care center meets and exceeds the UHMS's standards of patient care and facility safety. During the accreditation survey, many facets of the program were examined, including: staffing and training; equipment installation, operation and maintenance; facility and patient safety; and standards of care.
"To receive accreditation with distinction was an extra honor, and wasn't expected but we're very happy to receive it," said wound care center Program Manager David Dobson. "This accreditation differentiates us from our competition."
The wound care center offers a wide variety of treatments for chronic and non-healing wounds, including debridement, vacuum-assisted wound closure, biosynthetic skin substitutes and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
