Sayre, Pa. – The Post-Concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. The group offers support to athletes and their families who are dealing with sports related Post-Concussion Syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions.
Guthrie Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Steve Hicks is hosting the meeting, which will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Family Medicine Conference Room, located on the first floor of Guthrie’s Sayre campus. The guest presenter will be Jacob Lezak, Head Boys’ Soccer Coach and Health and Physical Education Teacher at Athens Area High School.
Coach Lezak attended Lock Haven University. He was the starting goalie for the men’s soccer team. He is also a survivor of multiple concussions/mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI’s). Coach Lezak's topic is "Surviving Sports Concussion and the Classroom".
