Guthrie Sports Medicine to Host Post-Concussion Support Group Meeting

Sayre, Pa. – Sayre, PA – The Post-Concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting on Sunday, March 11, 2012. The group offers support to athletes, and their families, who are dealing with sports related Post-Concussion Syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions. 

Guthrie Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Steve Hicks is hosting the meeting, which will be held at 2 p.m. in the Guthrie Clinic 4 Blue Conference Room, located on the fourth floor of Guthrie’s Sayre campus. Mr. Ken Haggerty is the special guest presenter for this month's meeting. He is a science teacher at Athens Rowe Junior High and PIAA District 4 Football and Wrestling official. Mr. Haggerty will talk about his experiences in dealing with sports related concussions from the official’s point of view. In particular Mr. Haggerty will talk about his experience with a concussed athlete during the East-Central District 4 Wrestling Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012.
