Sayre, Pa. – Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital recently received the Hand Hygiene All-American award from Proventix Systems, Inc. of Birmingham, Ala. Healthcare workers from the hospital’s oncology unit, 5 Main, earned the award while participating in a pilot program designed to boost hand hygiene compliance on the unit.
The pilot program used Proventix’s nGage™ monitoring system with radio frequency identification (RFID) badges. The system tracks hand-washing compliance via sensor technology.
“We are very proud that our healthcare workers on the oncology unit have been recognized as leaders in hand hygiene,” said Bonnie Onofre, vice president and chief nursing officer at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. “We can certainly see the value in expanding this program throughout the hospital,” she said.
