Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Partners with Teen Driver Foundation to Offer Driving Clinic – April 12

Sayre, Pa. – Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is partnering with the Teen Driver Foundation to offer a program of teen driver education on responding to driving emergencies.

The clinic will take place on Friday, April 12 from 7 – 8 p.m. in the Patterson building on the Guthrie campus in Sayre, Pa. A four hour behind-the-wheel training session at the Guthrie employee parking lot on Thomas Ave. in Sayre will take place on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14. There are sessions from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and from 1 – 5:15 p.m. on both days. Participants choose which session they want to attend.

The “New Driver Car Control Clinic” gives teen a hands-on experience to help them make better decisions on the road and protect themselves, their passengers and other drivers. The Teen Driver Foundation points out 85% of crashes by 16 and 17 year olds are due to driver error. Teenagers are unsure of how to respond to common driving mishaps like going off the road with two tires, hitting a patch of ice or losing control of the vehicle in any way.

Instructors from the Foundation will teach teens and their parents how to instinctively respond in emergency driving situations. Through both classroom and behind-the-wheel settings, young drivers learn what to do when their car gets in a dangerous position.

The cost of the program is $139 per student, who must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Registration is available both online at or by calling 800-862-3277.

The Henry Dunn Insurance Co. and the Future Business Leaders of America are also helping to sponsor this event.
