Guthrie President and CEO Joseph Scopelliti, MD to Offer Free Community Presentation on Health Care Reform Nationally and Locally
Sayre, Pa. — Guthrie President and CEO Joseph Scopelliti, MD will offer a free, informational community presentation on Health Care Reform under the Affordable Care Act on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Patterson Auditorium on the Guthrie Sayre Campus located at One Guthrie Square in Sayre, Pa. Scopelliti will give an overview of Health Care Reform under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and explain its impact at Guthrie.
“Health Care Reform, both locally and nationally, presents a unique blend of opportunities and challenges for our health system and every health system across the nation,” said Scopelliti. “The implementation of Health Care Reform is fundamentally changing how health care is delivered and how health systems are compensated for that care, all with the goal of improving patient outcomes and decreasing the cost of health care nationally.”
When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law in 2010, it made provision by subsequent legislation to expand health insurance coverage, control costs and to improve the delivery of health care over a timeline spanning from 2010 to 2018. Dr. Scopelliti will provide a summary of the current status of this phased implementation and discuss how Guthrie and health systems across the nation are adapting to comply with these requirements and mandates.
No registration is required for this free, informational community presentation. To learn more visit www.Guthrie.org.
