Sayre, Pa. – The Post-Concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting on Sunday, Feb.12, 2012. The group offers support to athletes, and their families, who are dealing with sports related Post-Concussion Syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions.
Guthrie Sports Medicine, Athletic Trainer Steve Hicks is hosting the meeting, which will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Guthrie Clinic Family Medicine Conference Room, located on the first floor of Guthrie’s Sayre campus. Julia Wolanski, a senior at Athens Area High School and current Wrestling Cheerleader, and her mom, Thola Wolanski, will be the guest speakers for this meeting. They will talk about the injury and recovery process from a concussion Julia sustained in Cheerleading 2 years ago. They are both members of the support group and are excited to have the opportunity to “Pay It Forward” to those dealing with similar injuries.
