Sayre, Pa. – The public is invited to tour Guthrie’s new Observation Care Unit and Interventional Radiology Suite on Thursday, March 28 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital.
The units, located on the fourth floor of the hospital, will increase the number of beds and improve the flow of patients. The Observation Care Unit holds 16 beds and will be used for short-term treatment and assessment of a patient. During the observation time a decision will be made by a physician whether the patient requires an inpatient admission. The patient rooms provide the privacy and comfort needed while monitoring takes place.
The types of cases that will be on the Observation Unit are:
• Cath Lab patients
• Bronchial Suite patients
• Observation patients from the ED that require additional monitoring
• Surgical observation patients
Having an Observation Care Unit will also increase the efficiency of moving patients off of the medical-surgical floors of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, freeing up beds for those who require a longer-term stay.
Guthrie’s Interventional Radiology team will offer advanced procedures in the new state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology Suite. The new suite has the newest, most advanced imaging equipment available on the market today. The radiographic and ultrasound equipment has upgraded features including multi-imaging fusion, computerized needle guidance, 3D imaging, and large screen high resolution display, helping Guthrie provide the best care possible for patients.
