Sayre, Pa. – In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, “Pink Days” will be held at Guthrie’s hospital facilities – Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. Guthrie Corning Hospital and Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital.
On the Sayre campus, “Pink Day” will be Friday, Oct. 19. There will be a table outside the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital cafeteria with breast health information and pink items for sale, to benefit the Guthrie Breast Care Fund.
At Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, “Pink Day” is set for Thursday, Oct 25. Over 100 items have been donated by patients, local companies and employees for a chinese auction. All proceeds will go the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Patient Mammography Charity Fund. There will also be tours of the mammography department and information on breast cancer awareness.
Guthrie Corning Hospital will offer “The Hat Show”, a short skit based on the "Top Ten Reasons Why Women Don’t Have Regular Mammograms". It will be performed on Friday, Oct. 19 in the Guthrie Corning Hospital Service Lobby. Show times are 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Refreshments and breast health education will be available. There will also be a raffle for a great prize.
Over 96 percent of women with breast cancer are treated successfully when it’s detected early. This is why Guthrie recommends an annual mammogram for all women beginning at age 40, and earlier for those at higher risk. Speak with your physician and schedule an appointment as soon as possible to protect your health and wear your pink in support of “Pink Day”.
