Corning, N.Y. — Guthrie Medical Imaging’s Ultrasound service at Guthrie Corning Centerway located at 130 Centerway in Corning, N.Y. has been awarded a full three-year accreditation in obstetrical, gynecological and general ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the body to help providers diagnose and treat disease.
“Guthrie’s fellowship-trained radiologists and sonographers have been recognized for their exemplary care and quality of service,” said Dr. David Channin, Chair, Guthrie Medical Imaging. “This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to imaging excellence and patient safety in service to our patients.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety and is awarded only after a peer-review evaluation. The evaluation is performed by board-certified, fellowship trained, radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and the quality assurance programs.
