Sayre, Pa. – Guthrie’s 12th Annual Golf for Guthrie Hospice event held Friday, June 20 at The Club at Shepard Hills in Waverly, N.Y. raised over $40,000 for Guthrie Hospice, a record-breaking fundraising total for the event.
“I am very appreciative of the support that is shown year after year for this tournament and Guthrie Hospice,” said tournament committee chair Tim Clark. “The number of businesses and golfers who come out each year to support this event is amazing. On behalf of the committee, I express our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated.”
Many local and regional businesses as well as individuals support this tournament at various levels. Williams Auto Group was once again the title sponsor and Keck’s Food Service, Inc. was the Banquet Sponsor as they have been since inception. Tioga Downs Casino, Racing & Entertainment joined for the second year as the Registration Sponsor. New to the tournament this year were the Star-Gazette Fund and the Manning & Napier Foundation who jointly became the Awards Sponsors.
More than 50 sponsors and donors and 36 four person teams contributed to the success of this year’s event. In addition to the first place honors going to the Chambers School Bus Team composed of Mike Chambers, Dustin Chambers, Joe Darrow and Dan Darrow; awards were also given out for the following:

The Golf for Guthrie Hospice tournament committee thanks all of the sponsors, donors and volunteers who contributed to this year’s tournament. Guthrie Hospice provides end-of-life services for patients and their families throughout the region as well as bereavement services in the community. Services are provided to all who request them, regardless of their ability to pay. The mission of the tournament is to raise funds for Guthrie Hospice to enhance and support hospice programs and services as well as offset the expenses related to caring for indigent patients. The tournament has raised over $360,000 since its inception in 2003.
Guthrie is a non-profit integrated health system located in north central Pennsylvania and Upstate New York, serving patients from an 11-county service area. Guthrie is comprised of a research institute, home care/hospice, hospitals in Sayre, Pa., Corning, N.Y., and Troy, Pa., as well as a multi-specialty group practice of more than 260 physicians and 130 mid-level providers in a regional office network encompassing sub-specialty and primary care sites in 23 communities throughout Pennsylvania and New York. Guthrie offers a wide range of services and programs designed to enhance the health and well-being of those it serves.
