Sayre, Pa. – A new, expanded Guthrie Wellsboro office is now officially open, after a ribbon cutting ceremony was held today.
The 24,000 square foot space, formerly an Ames store, has been renovated into a comprehensive primary care facility, featuring lab and x-ray services and space for visiting specialists.
Guthrie officials were joined by area dignitaries, including Representative Matt Baker, in cutting the ribbon on the office, which includes 28 exam rooms and ancillary services like chemotherapy and imaging to increase patient convenience.
Guthrie President and CEO Dr. Joseph Scopelliti said, “Guthrie has had a presence in Wellsboro since 1983 and has always enjoyed a wonderful relationship with patients here. We know they are just as excited as the staff to have a more modern, convenient location to receive care.”
Representative Baker added his best wishes to the day. “A healthy population is dependent upon access and quality of care provided by a strong public health infrastructure, which includes a well-trained and accessible public health workforce that serves and addresses the health needs of our growing population. I wish Guthrie, its health care professionals and employees my best wishes for success as they serve our citizens in providing for their current and future health care needs".
The staff moved into the new location on Friday, April 27 and began seeing patients the following Monday. Guthrie Wellsboro has 20 staff members and 7 providers and has more than 30,000 patient visits a year.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, an Open House was held for the community to tour the new facility and learn more about Guthrie services.
