Sayre, Pa. – For the 29th year, Guthrie Corning Hospital is sponsoring the Pop Can Fun Run, a race for children from ages 2 to 10, on Sunday, June 16. The event has grown through the years and now more than 400 children participate.
The opening ceremony is taking place at 1 p.m. on First Street between Pearl Street and Columbia Street in Corning. Pre-race entertainment and warm-up exercises will happen at 12:30 p.m. and the first race goes off at 1:10 p.m. There will be races for each age between 2 and 10 years old.
Medals will be awarded to the first, second & third place boy & girl finisher in each age group. Every participant will receive a ribbon. The first 500 to register will also receive a Pop Can Fun Run t-shirt. Medals will be presented at a ceremony immediately following the last race.
Guthrie Corning Hospital takes pride in sponsoring this event which helps youngsters experience the joys of running and good health. Although the name hasn't changed, each participant now receives a bottle of water or juice, rather than soda, to promote a healthier lifestyle.
The entry fee is $7.00 per child until June 13, $9.00 the day of the race. Registration forms are available at http://www.guthrie.org/event/pop-can-fun-run. Forms can be turned into the Lobby Conference Room at the main entrance of the hospital on June 13 and 14.
