Sayre, Pa. – The Mabel Lamberson Awards are given each year to exceptional students of the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. The awards are made possible by a generous donation from Ms. Lamberson, a graduate of the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing.
There were three scholarships given this year to help nurses further their careers:
• Jackie Fabiano from the 8NW nursing unit is attending Walden University for her BSN in Nursing.
• Pam Felt from the Behavioral Science unit is attending Walden University pursuing her Master of Science degree in Nursing.
• Stephanie Platt from the Dialysis unit is attending Corning Community College for her Associates degree in Nursing.
Also presented, for the sixth time, was the Friend of Nursing Award. This honor goes to a person who significantly supports the nursing department and allows it to perform at its very best. The award was presenting to Diane Briggs from the Nursing Office as a way to formally say “We couldn’t have done it without you.”
The Lamberson award for Excellence in Nursing Care for Support Personnel went to Emily Scrivener from Dialysis. Dawn Rishel, BSN, RN from the Float Pool was the recipient of the 2012 Award for Excellence in Nursing Care. And the Nursing Leadership Award winner was Suzanne Stewart, MSN, RN from Nursing Education.
