Guthrie and RPH School of Medical Laboratory Sciences Holds 61st Graduation Ceremony

The Robert Packer Hospital’s School of Medical Laboratory Sciences held its graduation ceremonies on Friday, July 29th, in the Patterson Education Building.

This marks the 61th graduating class the School of Medical Laboratory Technology.  Laboratory staff, friends and family attended to hear awards and comments presented by Brian Spezialetti, M.S., MT(ASCP), Program Director and Joseph King, MD, medical advisor.

The medical laboratory Sciences program at Guthrie and RPH is a one-year internship which accepts students with a 4-year degree in biology or other sciences from affiliated universities and prepares graduates to become certified, licensed medical laboratory professionals.  The RPH program is affiliated with several colleges in Pennsylvania and New York State. 

Awards for the valedictorian and salutatorian were presented at graduation.  This year’s class Valedictorian was Jillian Yaggie from Athens, PA and Penn State University.  The Salutatorian was Meagan Cartier from SUNY Plattsburgh.  Several Graduates, will be joining the staff of the Guthrie Clinic Laboratory.  They are Nikkie Sassano, Cyera Richter and Garrett Near.
