Sayre, Pa. – The Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award has been presented to Sally Lee, MD, a nephrologist who works in the Guthrie Towanda location and at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
The award is given each year to a provider who best exemplifies the traits of Clinic founder Donald Guthrie, MD. Dozens of nominations came in from patients and colleagues, but the Reward and Recognition Committee of the Guthrie Board of Directors felt the honor belong to Dr. Lee.
Nominations from patients and co-workers highlighted Dr. Lee’s compassion and willingness to go the extra step for her patients, especially in times of serious illness. She was referred to as a “top-notch, one-of-a-kind provider.” Patients told stories of Dr. Lee’s treatment of them as a “whole person”, not just their diagnosis.
Dr. Lee earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, in Newark, NJ. She joined the staff of the Guthrie Clinic in 19XX. Her clinical interests include blood pressure monitoring, kidney diseases and chronic and acute renal failure.
Appointments with Dr. Lee can be made by calling 570-888-5858 in Sayre, Pa. or 570-265-6165 in Towanda, Pa.
Also awarded during the annual recognitions was the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Service Award. It was presented to Karen Cartwright, Breast Cancer Navigator, who was called a “reassuring and calming” presence for cancer patients and their families. She was also cited for her many community health efforts, including extensive education on breast cancer awareness.
