The Sayre Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Fun Run has been a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Sayre, Pa. since 2007. From its humble beginnings with 110 runners crossing the finish line, the Sayre Turkey Trot has become the largest 5K running event in Bradford County, Pa. With 800 registered runners in 2012, the Sayre Turkey Trot continues to attract more participants each year from all over the nation.
Online registration for the 5K event is now available at the Sayre Turkey Trot website – www.sayreturkeytrot.com – with an advance registration fee of $20 and day-of registration fee of $25. Turkey Trot Teams with up to five members may enjoy discounted registration of $18 per person in advance or $23 on race day. Advance registrations will be accepted until November 21 and will guarantee the first 650 5K participants a long-sleeve Technical Shirt. Registration is required by November 6 to guarantee desired shirt size. All pre-registered participants will also be entered into a raffle for prizes.
There will be awards for overall male and female 5K runners, Master’s male and female 5K runners, and first-place Turkey Trot Teams in the categories of all male, all female, and mixed gender. New this year, age group awards will be presented to the first three finishers in their age group, male and female. The first 50 children who finish the Kids’ Fun Run will receive a special gift. Children will enjoy seeing one of our volunteers dressed as a turkey.
Packet pick-up, an opportunity for last-minute registration and a newly added Race Expo will be offered on November 27 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Guthrie Patterson Auditorium located at One Guthrie Square in Sayre, Pa.
Proceeds will benefit Penn-York Opportunities, Inc. of Athens, Pa. and the Auxiliary of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital’s community support, out-reach and hospital projects. A collection of travel-sized toiletries and laundry items from participants on race morning will be donated to the Sayre House of Hope.
