Sayre, Pa. – The 2013 Guthrie Gala raised more than $61,000 at the event held on Sept. 21 in the Guthrie Clinic Atrium on the Guthrie Sayre campus located at One Guthrie Square in Sayre, Pa. Title sponsor, Chesapeake Energy, along with more than 100 sponsors and donors and 256 attendees contributed to this year’s event.
The annual event is a dinner/dance fundraiser for the Sayre House of Hope, a residence that provides family-centered lodging to patients and their loved ones while receiving medical treatment at Guthrie.
“This year, the Sayre House of Hope is celebrating its six-year anniversary and has helped over 1,500 families to-date,” said Debra Kis, Guthrie’s Annual Giving and Fundraising Event Coordinator. “We are extremely grateful to our sponsors and attendees who so generously support such a worthy cause through their participation in our annual Guthrie Gala.”
The House of Hope is designated for patients and/or their families who do not live in the Sayre area, have special needs, and/or have difficulty providing their own transportation or housing accommodations while obtaining medical treatment. The mission of the House of Hope is to alleviate the additional emotional burden on patients and their families while enduring a medical crisis by providing temporary housing and support.
