The vigil is part of a national campaign to raise awareness for lung cancer and to offer hope, inspiration, support and remembrance for all those touched by lung cancer. Presentations will include advancements in lung cancer screening and treatment and survivor stories.
Each year, more Americans die from lung cancer than any other major cancer – breast, prostate, and colon combined. It accounts for 30% of all cancer related deaths and yet, it is the least funded in terms of overall research dollars. As a result, only 15% of those diagnosed with lung cancer live longer than five years.
