Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the country. Our dedicated team of lung cancer specialists provides patients with the highest-quality treatment for lung cancer. We offer comprehensive, personalized care that is tailored to each patient's needs, including the latest innovations in lung cancer detection, minimally invasive surgery, genetic testing of tumors, stereotactic body radiosurgery (SBRT) and clinical trials. Guthrie’s comprehensive team approach to lung cancer includes collaboration with many other departments. We work with pulmonology, oncology, thoracic surgery, including a fellowship-trained thoracic oncology surgeon, radiation and support staff, including a dedicated lung cancer nurse navigator.

Early detection is key. To identify lung cancer early, Guthrie has initiated a lung cancer screening program. Eligible patients who voluntarily agree to participate will be involved in a research trial and receive a low dose CT scan of the chest to screen for lung cancer. The scan will be paid for by the Guthrie Foundation for Education and Research. This trial will further our knowledge of the benefits of early detection of lung cancer and help to create improved screening guidelines for the future.

Guthrie offers lung cancer treatment options including:
