Medical Director, Bariatric Surgery
Joshua Alley, MD, FACS, is a native of Illinois who graduated from the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. Dr. Alley did his surgical residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and then went on to a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Commissioned as an officer in the Air Force in 1998, Dr. Alley served on active duty from 2002 until 2011. He was a trauma surgeon with the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group, Balad Air Force Theater Hospital in Iraq and then the 452nd Combat Support Hospital in Afghanistan, performing more than 500 war trauma surgeries in 10 months. Dr. Alley received the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal, awarded for lifesaving care rendered to a U.S. solider with a penetrating cardiac injury at a forward operating base.

Published in several academic and medical journals, Dr. Alley has also performed medical mission work in Peru, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He holds membership in the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Alley is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He has performed over 600 bariatric procedures and has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, The American Surgeon, Obesity Surgery and others.
Dr. Alley and his wife are the parents of four children and his hobbies include running, gardening, hunting and fishing.
