Trauma Center
Overview
Robert Packer Hospital is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) as a Regional Trauma Center, adult Level II. The trauma team functions under the direct leadership of fellowship-trained traumatologists specializing in trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care. These Acute Care Surgery surgeons are in-house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and immediately available to care for seriously injured patients and those with surgical emergencies.
In addition, because Guthrie maintains in-house surgical capabilities for trauma, other patients that have surgical emergencies requiring cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgery and orthopaedic surgery benefit from the immediate availability of a specialized team of personnel, equipment and capabilities.
To ensure that a patient is referred to the most appropriate medical or surgical specialty, Guthrie offers The Regional Transfer Center, a one-call central point of access operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
