Pulmonology & Critical Care
The Section of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine offers evaluation, consultation, treatment and medical
management of diseases involving the lungs and services involving the diagnosis and support of critically ill
patients. The Section includes physicians with expertise in mechanical ventilation, invasive hemodynamic
monitoring, nutritional support, and management of patients in shock. Additional services include a
comprehensive pulmonary function laboratory, comprehensive chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
rehabilitation and education program, exercise physiology studies, inhalation challenge studies, fiberoptic
bronchoscopy including cryotherapy,
stent replacement, and enclobronchial brachytherapy. In addition, percutaneous lung
biopsy is offered as well as transtracheal oxygen therapy. Specializations of the Section include management
of critically ill patients, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, bronchogenic
carcinoma, sleep apnea syndromes, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and exercise cardiopulmonary stress testing.
