Overview

Guthrie Colorectal Surgeons provide comprehensive diagnostic services and treatments for disorders of the colon, anus and rectum.  Guthrie’s Colorectal Surgeons work collaboratively with colleagues in gastroenterology and oncological services to provide our patients with comprehensive and compassionate care. 

Our surgeons perform hundreds of procedures each year ranging from the treatment of inflammation of the bowels to removal of cancerous growths through the utilization of minimally invasive techniques that allow our patients faster recovery and shorter hospital stays.

Colon and rectal surgeons at Guthrie are board certified with advanced medical training in the treatment of colon and rectal conditions including:

  • Colorectal cancer
  • Crohn's disease - Inflammation of the inner lining of the colon and rectum that extends into the deeper layers of the intestinal wall
  • Diverticulosis - Inflammation or infection of the digestive tract

The colorectal surgeons at Guthrie provide comprehensive diagnostic procedures for colorectal screenings including:

  • Barium enema (barium x-ray)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Endoscopy Intrarectal ultrasound
  • Polypectomy

The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends that both men and women begin receiving colorectal cancer screenings at age 50, or sooner if there is a history of cancer related illness or a greater risk for cancer.
