Our Standard of Care
Our approach incorporates routine clinical breast examinations, screening
mammography and monthly breast self-examinations. If further testing is
required, our expertly trained staff will utilize the least invasive procedures
possible using our Center's technologically advanced diagnostic
equipment. Our standards of care are consistent with those of the American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology.

Mammography Guidelines from the American
Cancer Society:
- A
woman should have a baseline
mammogram at age 40.
- Women
age 40 and over should have a
mammogram annually.
American
Cancer Society Early Detection
Guidelines:
- Women
ages 20 to 39 should have a clinical
breast exam by a doctor or nurse
every three years and should perform
a monthly breast self-exam.
- Women
age 40 and over should have an
annual mammogram, an annual clinical
breast exam and should also perform
a monthly breast self-exam.

If an Abnormality is Detected
In the event your mammogram results indicate a breast abnormality, we will act immediately to establish the next course of action. Within 24 hours of receiving your results, you will have the opportunity to meet with one of our surgeons if necessary - (570)882-2265. Ultrasound imaging is
available and can be performed on site before the completion of your preliminary visit. We believe shared knowledge and decision making ensure the highest quality of medical care and the most positive experience for our patients.

Breast Cancer Support Group:
A support group for anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer or has
experienced breast cancer in the past. This may be beneficial for women
prior to having surgery to help them with decisions about treatment options.
The group meets to share experiences, information and to give strength to
each other. Family members and support persons are welcome and
meetings are free. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at
7pm in the Breast & Imaging Waiting Room on the 3rd Level at Robert
Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA and the 3rd Wednesday each month at 2pm at
Guthrie Home Health Health Office in North Towanda, PA (next to
Tomahawk Restaurant).
