Guthrie Corning Hospital hosts 30th annual “Pop Can Fun Run”

Sayre, Pa. – For the 30th year, Guthrie Corning Hospital is sponsoring the Pop Can Fun Run, a race for children ages 2-10, on Sunday, June 8. Participation through the years has grown to more than 400 children.

The opening ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on First Street between Pearl Street and Columbia Street in Corning. Pre-race entertainment and warm-up exercises will be offered at 12:30 p.m. and the first race begins at 1:10 p.m. There will be races for each age level from 2-10 years old.

Medals will be awarded to both boys and girls who finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age group. Every participant will receive a ribbon. The first 500 children to register will also receive a Pop Can Fun Run T-shirt. Medals will be presented at a ceremony immediately following the final race.

Guthrie Corning Hospital takes pride in sponsoring this event which helps young people experience the joys of running and good health. Although the name of the event has not changed, each participant now receives a bottle of water or juice, rather than soda, to promote a healthier lifestyle.

The entry fee is $8 per child until June 6 or $10 on the day of the race. Registration forms are available at http://www.guthrie.org/event/pop-can-fun-run-2. Forms can be turned into the lobby conference room at the main entrance of Corning Hospital on June 5 and 6.
