Topics include "The Emotional Rollercoaster of Grief," "Life Skills and Role Changes Following Loss" and "Handling Holidays." Additional Information: Guthrie Hospice services A support group for anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer or who has experienced breast cancer in the past. This may be beneficial for women prior to having surgery to help them make decisions about treatment options. The group meets to share experiences, information and to give strength to each other. Family members and support persons are welcome and meetings are free. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm in the Breast & Imaging Center Waiting Room on the third level of Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, and on the third Wednesday each month at 2 pm at the Guthrie Home Health Office in North Towanda, PA (next to Tomahawk Restaurant). Apart from the physical and medical challenges, people with cancer face many worries, feelings, and concerns unique to their situations. This general cancer support group provides a setting in which cancer patients and/or their families can talk about living with cancer with others who may be or may have had similar experiences. This is an American Cancer Society educational program for people facing cancer either personally or as a friend or family caregiver. Living with cancer is one of the greatest challenges a person can face in the course of a lifetime. The I Can Cope program offers help in the form of reliable information, peer support, and practical coping skills so that you can meet this challenge. On-line access to some I Can Cope programs can be viewed at www.cancer.org. Registration is encouraged although is not required at 1-888-227-5445 (American Cancer Society). Join the insulin pump therapy group for its quarterly support group meetings, which are designed for those using an insulin pump or considering insulin pump therapy. This group is an excellent way to meet others using pump therapy and to share and compare experiences. Topics include continuous blood glucose monitoring, what an insulin pump is, who can benefit from pump therapy and much more. Meetings are held quarterly on Guthrie’s Sayre Campus in the second level red section waiting area of Guthrie Clinic. "Wee Care: Nursing Your Baby" is held the first and third Monday of every month at 1:00 p.m. on the ninth level of Robert Packer Hospital in the First Impressions Birthing Center. This group is designed to give mothers the opportunity to meet with other breastfeeding mothers as well as professionals who can provide insight and continued support in order to make breastfeeding a positive experience. All new breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to attend whenever it is convenient. Feel free to bring your infants and toddlers! Registration is not necessary. A lactation class called Mother’s and Infant’s Lactation Konnection (M.I.L.K.) is available at Guthrie Clinic Troy on the first and third Tuesday of every month from noon to one p.m. Bring a bag lunch and your baby and come prepared to share experiences and ask questions! Perinatal Loss Counseling Services Certified counselors are available to provide support and guidance to family and friends who have experienced a loss either through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or infant death.
