At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recall three website resources for related information
  • List the major “at-risk” groups for substance abuse
  • Accurately describe 3 valid reasons/causes for drug contracts/informed consent for patients
  • Identify at least 5 human tissue/excretion matrices for drug testing and their appropriate applications
  • Define screening vs. confirmatory analytical testing methods
  • Describe the relative pros and cons of each testing matrix/tissue
  • Avoid common pitfalls and/or wrongful dismissal of patients from a medical practice based on drug testing done under a related contract or consent
  • Initiate creation of an effective, defensible drug-testing contract/informed consent with patients
  • Demonstrate competence and confidence in interpreting drug-testing results attendant to a contract or consent
