Macular Diseases and Conditions
Guthrie’s eye care team is supported by the Twin Tiers’ largest group of experienced fellowship-trained retina sub-specialists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of macular diseases and conditions.
Diseases and conditions that can affect the macula include macular degeneration, macular holes and wrinkling retinopathy. Macular diseases affect central vision, making it difficult to read, watch television or see faces. The most common form of macular disease is Age Related Macular Degeneration.
Available treatments at Guthrie for macular conditions include:
- Intravitreal injections
- Laser treatments, including Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
- Macular hole surgery
