Pastoral Services at Guthrie Corning Hospital

Guthrie Corning Hospital staff is trained in providing support to families experiencing a medical crisis. They also partner with area clergy and Southern Tier Hospice to provide support to patients and their families. For more information please ask the Nurse Manager or call 607-937-7378.

Smoking/Tobacco Use

Guthrie prohibits the use of all tobacco products at all of its campuses and office locations. This policy will be enforced in a manner which promotes prevention and awareness, and provides education for those who use tobacco.

Visiting Hours

At Guthrie Corning Hospital we recognize that a hospitalization can be stressful for patients as well as their family members and loved ones. We also recognize that the comfort and company that family members and loved ones provide through their visits often brings an invaluable level of reassurance to patients. Staying in touch with these very important people from patients’ lives can be important to the healing process, even while in the hospital.

We ask that patients receive no more than two visitors at a time. There will be times when, in order to provide care to patients, visitors may be asked to leave the room for a short period of time. Please also note that occasionally visitation may have to be restricted in order for patients to have adequate quiet and rest time. In order to protect all of our patients it is requested that visitors who are sick with colds or flu-like symptoms postpone their visit until their illness has resolved.

Hospitals can be busy places, especially when staff must respond quickly to situations. Because of our concerns for the safety of children we ask for the following:

  • Please check with a nurse before bringing children under 12 years of age to visit.
  • Adult supervision is required for children under the age of 12
  • Children’s visit shall be brief in nature
  • For the comfort of our patients, disruptive behavior on the part of children is unacceptable.
