Message from the Program Director
In July 2010, the Guthrie Clinic/Robert Packer Hospital started a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program. We encourage you to carefully consider joining our program. In 2010 and 2011 we were named one of the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals by Thompson-Reuters.
The program trains two Fellows per year for the 3-year program. The faculty consists of 10 board certified cardiologists. These cardiologists bring experience from a variety of institutions including the University of Washington, Yale University, Dartmouth, Ochsner Clinic, McMaster University, University of Rochester, and the National Institutes of Health. Currently Guthrie performs some 300 cardiac surgeries, 760 cardiac/peripheral interventions, 1,100 electrophysiologic procedures, and over 10,000 echocardiographic studies annually.
Current cardiovascular imaging includes the use of dual source multi-slice CT scan, as well as nuclear cardiology with the use of attenuation correction. The Fellowship is based at Robert Packer Hospital functions in collaboration with the other training programs at Guthrie including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and General Surgery. The program is fully ACGME accredited, our most recent site visit being in 2012. All CV fellows are mentored in research activity. Previously, Guthrie has been recognized as a Thompson-Reuters Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. Our Core Values are patient centeredness, teamwork and excellence. Please consider joining our dedicated team.
