At the Guthrie Cancer Center, our team is here to support you during your treatment. With a full-time social worker, nutritionist and an American Cancer Society representative on-site every day, we will make sure you have all of the resources you need to understand your treatment plan while supporting you every step of the way.

Financial assistance is available to you through multiple resources. Our dedicated social worker will review all the options with you to arrive at your best choice.

Support Groups

Guthrie’s Cancer Center wants to provide you with peace of mind amid cancer and offers you a number of resources to support you as you undergo cancer treatment.

Women Empowered Cancer Support Group

Providing emotional and social support, as well as education for women with any type of cancer, this support group is held the third Tuesday of every month from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Guthrie Cancer Center. For more information call 570-887-2721.

Cancer Survivorship Series: Living Beyond Cancer

Twice a year the Guthrie Cancer Center holds an educational series on survivorship for cancer survivors and their loved ones. The series of four seminars cover common areas of concern for cancer survivors such as fatigue, nutrition, “chemo brain” and stress/anxiety.

American Cancer Society

On-site American Cancer Society representatives provide numerous program and educational pamphlets. Various wigs and head coverings are available to patients at no cost. Look Good... Feel Better Program

The American Cancer Society offers a free monthly program for women that teach how to cope with skin changes and hair loss during cancer treatment, using cosmetic and skin care products. To find the closest program near you, please call 800-395-LOOK or visit www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org.

Chaplain

Chaplains are available at the Guthrie Cancer Center for spiritual direction and support, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Guthrie’s chaplains are an integral part of the cancer care team in providing spiritual support to you.

Patient Lending Library

Guthrie’s Cancer Center in Sayre, Pennsylvania, offers a patient lending library to support and educate you about your cancer. Made possible by the American Cancer Society and the Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, the patient lending library is stocked with books, DVDs and a computer with internet access to give you the tools you need to be as educated as possible about your cancer.
