The Section of General, Vascular & Thoracic Surgery provides consultation for a variety of problems, including surgical treatment of diseases of head, neck, breast, gastrointestinal tract, lungs, diaphragm, chest wall, and peripheral vascular system, including laparoscopic surgery. A Residency Program in General Surgery is offered.

In the Peripheral Vascular Lab, studies of the carotid arteries are carried out using Duplex Scanning. Arteries in the extremities are studied by pulse waveform recordings with Doppler pressures. To detect deep vein thrombosis, an examination is performed using Duplex imaging with color flow Doppler. All of the tests are noninvasive, with no discomfort.
