Guthrie’S Shoulder Camp TeamOur multidisciplinary team includes board-certified orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in arthroscopic surgical procedures, surgical technicians, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, physician assistants, physical therapists and nurses. Each of these specialists is uniquely qualified to care for shoulder patients and committed to fulfilling your individual needs.
Using techniques from Guthrie's highly successful hip and knee replacement program, Joint Camp, Guthrie orthopaedic surgeon, Russell Striff, MD, developed Guthrie Shoulder Camp. The Shoulder Camp program began at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA and later, with the help of Guthrie orthopaedic surgeon George Pokorny, MD, expanded to Corning Hospital in Corning, NY.
Dr. Striff obtained his medical degree from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Los Angeles County—U.S.C. Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Striff is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
George Pokorny, MD, Guthrie Orthopaedic Surgeon (Corning Hospital) Dr. Pokorny has been practicing in Corning since 1986 and joined Guthrie in 1990. He specializes in shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgery as well as total joint replacement Dr. Pokorny has served as Chief of Surgery at Corning Hospital from 1990-1992 and in 1996 as President of the Corning Hospital Medical Staff.
Dr. Pokorny received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. He completed a one-year internship in General Surgery and a four-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, NY. He received his board certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1989 and has been an Active Fellow of the AAOS since 1991. |
