Nephrology
The Section of Nephrology provides complete diagnostic and therapeutic services for adults and children with hypertension and renal disease. Services include evaluation of acid base disturbances; fluid and electrolyte disorders; hematuria; proteinuria, performance of renal biopsies (evaluated by light, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy); hypertension with specific attention to renal parenchymal and renovascular forms, metabolic aspects of urolithiasis; both acute and chronic renal failure (provide both acute and chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, home training program and care of transient patients), and referral and follow-up of renal transplant patients. Children are seen under special consideration.
