Medical Education at Guthrie Healthcare System

Medical education has been an integral component of Guthrie for more than a century. Faculty members at Guthrie are very active at the state and national level in shaping the future of medical education. Guthrie offers a unique academic atmosphere where learners experience the satisfaction of rural practice while actively participating in and influencing these exciting changes.

Guthrie currently has an affiliation with Upstate Medical University Clinical Campus in Binghamton, NY that includes medical students completing four-week core rotations in medicine and six-week core rotations in surgery. In addition, fourth-year medical student elective rotations are available. Many of our Sayre-based Guthrie physicians in addition to Guthrie house staff officers hold academic appointments at Upstate Medical University.
