The special terminology nurses and doctors use is a little different from what you are used to at home. We have prepared the table below to help you understand what certain words mean on your prescription label.

Q. a.m. or Q.D.	Once a day
B.I.D.	Twice a day
T.I.D.	Three times a day
Q.I.D.	Four times a day (during day hours)
Q.4	Every four hours (continuously around-the-clock)
Q.6	Every six hours
Q.8	Every eight hours
Q.12	Every twelve hours
A.C.	Before meals
P.C.	After meals
Q.H.S.	At bedtime
Q.O.D.	Every other day
P.R.N.	As needed
