Nursing Research at Guthrie

Conducting nursing research is one way that Guthrie nurses contribute to the nursing profession. Basing practice on the current evidence available and contributing to this body of evidence are key behaviors exhibited by professional nurses. Nursing Research at Guthrie is guided by the Nursing Research Council at Robert Packer Hospital.

Guthrie welcomes the conduct of nursing research by appropriately qualified nurse researchers and students pursing advanced degrees in nursing who are conducting their thesis/dissertation research. Interested nurse researchers can learn more about Nursing Research at Guthrie by reading the Nursing Research Policy for Robert Packer Hospital, or by contacting the Department of Nursing Education and Research at 570-882-4525.

Nursing Research Council

The Nursing Research Council at Robert Packer Hospital is one of five professional councils that make up the shared governance model at RPH. Members of this council represent patient care areas with the hospital. The purpose of the Nursing Research Council is to promote the integration of nursing research and evidence-based practice, and to offer support and advice to help interested nurses get started in research.

Nurse researchers interested in conducting research at Robert Packer Hospital require the approval of the Nursing Research Council before presenting their study to the Institutional Review Board . The Nursing Research Policy explains all the necessary steps for nurse researchers who wish to conduct research at Robert Packer Hospital.
