Medical Technology / Clinical Laboratory Science Program

Academic Requirements 

Applications should be submitted to the program approximately one year in advance of the anticipated date of entrance. The application process should include:

  • Program application
  • Official university/college transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation from university/college science instructors

 

Interested students must complete the following requirements prior to entrance to the program:

  • 90 credit hours in undergraduate studies to include:

    • Biology 16 Credits

    • Microbiology 3 Credits

    • Immunology 1 Credits

    • Chemistry 16 Credits

    • Mathematics 3 Credits

Health Requirements for Admission

 

The following information must be provided after acceptance to the program and prior to arrival on campus:

  • Two MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or the results of Rubella and rubeola Titres confirming immunity.

  • Positive history of chicken pox, Varicella immunizations or Varicella titre confirming immunity.

  • Hepatitis B immunization with Hepatitis B Antibody Titre records.

  • Tuberculosis Skin Test (PPD) written documentation within the last 12 months.

  • 7 panel drug screen on your urine.   Test results must be negative for all drugs screened. Note: Do not request the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen.

  • Proof of medical insurance coverage.  A photocopy of your (or your parents) health insurance card.

  • A completed health examination form

  • Immunizations for Tetanus/Diptheria

Technical Requirements for Admission:

The applicant must be capable of:

  • Visual distinction of red and blue colors.
  • Communicating in oral and written English.
  • Manipulating laboratory labware in the mixing, transferring and pipeting of reagents.
  • Operating lab instruments, e.g., centrifuges, microscopes, and spectrophotometers
